Choral music is my calling. As a composer, conductor, and educator, I believe music should be artistically excellent, deeply expressive, and centered on the people who make it. Whether I am writing for choirs, conducting ensembles, or teaching singers, my goal is to create meaningful musical experiences and help others do the same.

Professional Activity
Sing Omaha
Sing Omaha is one of the nation’s largest and most successful music education and performance nonprofits.
Dr. Matt Hill founded Sing Omaha in 2007 and continues to serve as its Executive and Artistic Director. He conducts three of the organization’s nine choirs and maintains an applied voice and composition studio. He also oversees Sing Omaha’s choral faculty and two studio locations, which serve more than 150 private students each week through a faculty of more than 30 educators, in addition to approximately 200 singers participating in the organization’s choirs.
Creighton University
Dr. Hill joined the Creighton University Department of Fine and Performing Arts as the Director of Choral Activities in 2023 where he conducts the Chamber Choir and University Chorus and teaches other music coursework.
He also serves on University committees and advises undergraduates in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts.
NCDA
Since 2009, Matt Hill has served the Nebraska Choral Directors Association in numerous leadership roles and currently serves as Executive Director. His previous board service includes a term as Treasurer, and he has conducted ensembles at state conferences on multiple occasions, including NCDA’s inaugural All-State Concert Choir in 2019.
Divine Shepherd
Matt Hill serves Divine Shepherd as Director of Worship Arts, conducting the Chancel Choir, leading Modern Worship with a praise band, and overseeing all music-related activities in the church.
International Choral Composers Institute
Beginning in 2027, Dr. Hill will join the faculty of the International Choral Composers Institute, where he is developing and will direct a new conducting track offered alongside the Institute’s established composition program. His work will include curriculum development, conducting instruction, lectures and laboratory sessions, and leadership of the institute ensemble in performance.
